A New Chapter

My first official post and foray into the blogging arena.  You may want to know who I am and why I am doing this--if not that seems to be the way a first post goes, so here we go.

Gotta love stock photos--they are free to use!  Can you tell I also love Horses?

I am a forty one year old woman, wife, and mother of three. I open with this because my family is the number one priority in my life. We are a wild and crazy group with laughter being the number one sound in our house, followed by an eclectic range of music, and random outbursts from kids, dogs, or cats. You really don't know you'll hear next. It could be screams of laughter or irritation, a barking dog, an off the cuff rendition of a Disney tune, Wicked, or Phantom of the Opera. If we aren't singing, talking or laughing, you might hear whistling in the dark, or kids or dogs chasing each other through the house. I suppose our home is not for those who prefer a quiet Zen environment, but I couldn't think of anywhere I would rather be.

My post is titled a new chapter as I am on the cusp of starting one in my life.  My children are almost grown with my youngest now a Senior in High School. It is going to be odd when they start to take wing from the family nest. I figured it was time to redirect focus to my one of my other passions that I has been dormant (maybe erratic is a better) for a very long time and that is writing. I have always had I love for books and have been writing since I got my first electric typewriter. Yes folks, I am that old. This was a big deal to me when I got this amazing piece of electronic equipment at sixteen. My first attempts were... umm let us say a little bit like bad fish and that is being kind.
Whooeey! That Stinks!

HOWEVER, I feel I have greatly improved over the last twenty or so years (at least I'd like to think so) and have learned a lot. I plan to share that knowledge on this blog. I will also blog about my trials and tribulations of attempting to break into print after all these years of avoiding the business end of writing a novel, or in my case, several novels. I will also blog random things that pop into my creative mind and probably an occasional rant or two.

I don't feel that I'm too old to pursue the only thing I ever really wanted to do with my life. My new saying is...It is never too late to write that which you dream! My oldest daughter is also a writer and I am so proud of the fact she is following her goal from the start instead of doubting herself and getting sidetracked like me.

I LOVE new chapters. There is opportunity in those blank pages which could be a place to begin...or end.  The possibilities are endless! I enjoy not knowing exactly where it might lead you in the progression of a story. And after the chapter is written, you look back and feel an accomplishment that those pages wouldn't have existed without you. It is a feeling like no other and well known to those who write and love the craft.  Like this picture a new chapter can be a sunrise or a sunset, both full of the unknown.

I hope you come back and visit. And to all who read this remember...Write, Live, and Dream.
